Introduction

When you visit Fotolens.si, we may store cookies and similar technologies (e.g. local storage – localStorage) in your browser or device. This policy has been prepared in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), the Slovenian Personal Data Protection Act (ZVOP-2), and Article 225 of the Electronic Communications Act (ZEKom-2), taking into account the guidance of the Information Commissioner of the Republic of Slovenia.

The policy explains which cookies we use, what they are used for, how long they are stored, the legal basis for their use, and how you can change your choice at any time.

What are cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves to your browser when you visit. On your next visit the website reads the cookie and can recognise your login, language preference, cart contents, etc.

Similar technologies include browser local storage (localStorage) and session storage (sessionStorage), which work similarly to cookies but data stays solely in your browser and is not sent to the server on every request. In this policy the term "cookies" covers all of the above.

Cookie categories

1. Essential cookies

Technically necessary for the website to function and cannot be turned off. Without them login, session security, language selection, cart, order placement and recording your cookie choice do not work. We do not need your consent for these – ZEKom-2 (Article 225/3 item 4) expressly exempts cookies that are technically necessary to provide a service the user has explicitly requested.

2. Functional cookies

Provide extended functionality (e.g. embedded maps, third-party video players). We use them only with your explicit consent.

3. Analytics cookies

Help us understand how users use the site (visit counts, most-visited galleries, traffic source) so we can improve the experience. We use them only with your explicit consent. We currently do not use any analytics cookies on Fotolens.si, but we reserve the right to introduce them in the future – in which case they will be set only with your consent.

4. Marketing cookies

Enable ad targeting, measuring campaign performance and connection to ad platforms (e.g. Meta, Google Ads). We use them only with your explicit consent. We currently do not use any marketing cookies on Fotolens.si.

Third-party cookies

At checkout the website redirects you to the secure payment environment of Stripe, which uses its own cookies for fraud protection and payment form functionality. These cookies are set by Stripe as an independent controller; their terms apply: stripe.com/cookies-policy and stripe.com/privacy.

We do not use any other third-party cookies (e.g. Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Hotjar) without your prior consent.

Legal basis for cookies

  • Essential cookies: Article 225/3 item 4 ZEKom-2 – exemption from the consent requirement because they are technically necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user.
  • Functional, analytics and marketing cookies: Article 225/2 ZEKom-2 in conjunction with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR – your explicit consent.

Consent is freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous, given by a click in the cookie banner or in cookie settings. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Cookie duration

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies are deleted after the period stated in the table or when you delete them yourself.

Managing and withdrawing consent

On your first visit a banner appears where you can:

  • Accept all cookies,
  • Reject all non-essential cookies, or
  • choose individual categories in Cookie settings.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. Click the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page and update your choice.

You can also manage cookies directly in your browser (view, delete, block):

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

If you disable essential cookies, parts of the website will not work properly (e.g. cart, login, order placement).

Your rights under GDPR and ZVOP-2

Where personal data is processed via cookies, you have the right to:

  • access your data,
  • rectify or erase your data,
  • restrict processing,
  • data portability,
  • object to processing,
  • withdraw consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal,
  • lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority.

For more about your rights and how to exercise them, see our Privacy Policy.
